Dame Kelly Holmes, who recently revealed that she is gay, stars in ‘Being Me’. In the film, Holmes tells of her experiences as a Gay woman in the military where she spent several years serving in the Women’s Royal Army Corps, during a time where it was illegal to be gay, lesbian or bisexual in the Armed Forces. Since coming out, Holmes has received an outpouring of support from fellow the public and fellow athletes alike. “I needed to do this now, for me, it was my decision. I’m nervous about saying it. I feel like I’m going to explode with excitement. Sometimes I cry with relief. The moment this comes out, I’m essentially getting rid of that fear.”
